When people think about helping a rescue cat, they usually think of adoption. But there’s another way to change a cat’s life, one that many people have never considered, and right now two very special ladies are hoping someone will.
Meet Skye
Skye is 14, and she’s had more upheaval than any cat her age deserves. We rehomed her last year, but sadly things didn’t work out with the resident cat and she came back into our care. A vet check revealed a few age-related medical issues, and what Skye wants now is simple: a quiet, affectionate home where she can be doted on. She’d prefer to be an only cat, or to live with a very relaxed feline friend who’s happy to let her be in charge. She has warmth, character and a touch of regal presence, and she’s ready to put her paws up somewhere peaceful.
Meet Suki
Suki, 9, first came to us several years ago. Recently she returned, through nobody’s fault, after her owner sadly developed dementia and could no longer care for her. She’s under the care of a specialist for an issue with one of her eyes. Suki is a shy girl who needs time to feel safe, but those who give her that time get something lovely in return: once she trusts you, she becomes deeply loyal and utterly devoted.
What long-term fostering actually means
Because of their medical needs, we’re not looking for adopters for Skye and Suki. We’re looking for long-term fosterers, and the arrangement is simpler than most people expect.
As a fosterer, you provide the home and the day-to-day care: food, litter, routine, and plenty of love. We cover all of their veterinary costs, for as long as they’re with you. You’d also need to be able to travel to Eden Vets whenever Skye or Suki have an appointment.
In other words, you give them the one thing we can’t provide at the rescue, a settled home of their own, and we take care of the bills that might otherwise make an older cat feel like too big a commitment.
