It started with a post in a local lost-and-found group. Early one morning, a woman in Sandbach looked out into her garden and found six cats she’d never seen before: a mum, an older kitten, and four little ones, only ten to twelve weeks old.
She lives on a busy road. And with worrying reports of cats and kittens being taken for suspected nefarious purposes locally, she knew this wasn’t something she could safely leave to chance. So she reached out to us.
Out in the downpours
We didn’t wait. Despite the rain hammering down, two of our volunteers went straight over to bring as many of the cats to safety as they could. No fuss, no hesitation, just the quiet, soaking-wet work that goes on behind almost every rescue we do.
Where they are now
The older kitten is brave, fiery, and absolutely full of attitude. She’s gone to a neighbouring rescue, where she’ll be safe and given the best possible chance to socialise and find her feet.
The four youngest? They’re now tucked up in Pen 6, warm, dry, and protected, rather than out in a garden where anything could have happened to them.
The work isn’t finished
We’re not done yet. Mum is still out there, along with a tom who’s been hanging around the area. We’re working to trap them both so they can be neutered, which means no more litters of vulnerable kittens born into danger on a busy roadside. It’s the only way to break the cycle for good.

Six cats taken in. Volunteers out in the rain at a moment’s notice. Pens kept warm, vet care lined up, neutering arranged for the cats still to come. None of it happens without the people who support us.
Every kitten in Pen 6 is safe tonight because someone chose to help.
