Ice Lollies, Raffles and £1,485.40: Thank You, Mablins Lane

The staff, pupils and parents of Mablins Lane Community Primary School spent their last week of term fundraising for our cats, and blew us away with the result.

The last week of the school year is usually about sports days, signed shirts and counting down to the holidays. At Mablins Lane Community Primary School, it was also about cats.

During their final week of term, the school’s staff, pupils and parents threw themselves into fundraising for our rescue. There were ice lollies for sale in the summer sunshine, raffles to be won, and, by all accounts the star attraction, a temporary tattoo station.

Then, a few days into the holidays, Head Teacher Mrs Wagstaff came to visit us at the rescue to hand over what they’d raised.

£1,485.40.

We were absolutely blown away. That total, raised one ice lolly and one tattoo at a time, makes a real, practical difference to the cats and kittens in our care. It helps pay for vet checks, vaccinations, food and everything in between, at a time when we have more than 80 cats relying on us and every penny is spoken for.

To every child who queued for a lolly, every parent who bought a raffle ticket, and every member of staff who made it happen: thank you. Your kindness helps us keep caring for the cats and kittens who need us most. 💜

Could your school or group do the same?

If Mablins Lane have inspired you, we’d love to hear from you. Whether it’s a school, a workplace, a sports club or a group of friends, a small fundraiser goes a long way at a volunteer-run rescue like ours, and we’re always happy to help with ideas.
