From Heartbreak to Happy: Three Rescue Stories

From abandoned greenhouses to car parks and skips, these three rescue stories show how scared, poorly kittens were given a second chance at life and love at Sandbach Animal Rescue.

Every cat that comes through our doors has a story. Some are heartbreaking, some are joyful, and many are both.

Here are three of our recent favourites.

Apollo, Athena and Artemis

This trio of beauties was found in an abandoned greenhouse, covered in muck and fleas, with tummies full of worms and no sign of mum.

After a good few weeks at the rescue building their trust in humans, treating their poorly tummies and getting rid of the uninvited guests in their coats, these stunning kittens were named after Greek deities: Apollo, Athena and Artemis.

A lovely family came forward wanting to take all three into their home. We were absolutely delighted, as these three really were inseparable.

Magic, Charm and Wanda

When one of the ladies who feeds feral cats locally walked up to the rescue with a wriggling bag for life, we knew it was going to be an interesting day.

Meet Magic, Charm and Wanda. These little babies were found near a car park, all alone and starving. They had poorly eyes and were in a bit of a state. It took weeks to make them better, but they thrived in our care and were soon bouncing around the rescue winning the hearts of every staff member.

The magic gang were adopted into two wonderful homes and continue to be loved.

Scrappy and Skippy

We received a call from a member of the public who had spotted two tiny furry babies living under a skip. They were absolutely filthy and scared to death of humans. We named them, rather appropriately, Scrappy and Skippy.

Have you ever tried to bath a cat? These two darlings hid away from us and only responded to food for weeks. Then slowly, slowly, they accepted strokes and fuss, until they became the most loving kitties and soon found a wonderful home.

How You Can Help

There are very sadly hundreds of stories just like these. Caring for scared, poorly kittens and cats, bringing them back to health and into a position to be rehomed takes dedicated volunteers, skilled vets and, most importantly, money.
