Every three weeks, the team from Eden Vets comes to us. Laura Atkinson, an Advanced Practitioner in Feline Medicine, and registered veterinary nurse Lizzie hold a clinic right here at our rescue centre, in the place where our cats and kittens already live.
At a recent clinic, the team administered seven vaccinations, examined a heavily pregnant cat, and carried out vital health checks on three nursing mums and their ten kittens, all in a single visit.
Holding the clinic on-site matters more than it might sound. It means our cats are seen in a calm, familiar environment rather than being coaxed into carriers and driven to a surgery, which is far less stressful for them and a huge relief for our volunteers. It also means we can monitor the ongoing health of every animal in our care, catching problems early.
None of this is free, and none of it would be possible without our supporters. Every vaccination, every health check, every safe arrival is funded by people who choose to help.
